Why?

Well...why not?
We can't really remember how the topic came up, but it was about 6 months ago, and neither of us has backed out since then.

To give a little background to the trip:
My mother, Lee, and I (Merryl) leave in 16 days, scheduled to head out on May 7th. Starting out at the Tsawwassen Ferry terminal, we have until June 6th to cycle to to the USA/Mexican border, turn around and fly home via San Diego.
And NO - we're not doing it to raise money. And YES - it is just for fun.  This blog is intended to give us something to do at night when we're huddled in our tent, provide us with some memories, and inform you all that we are in fact still alive.

Details:
Route: Hwy 101 and the Pacific Coast Hwy.
# Days: 30 days total (including travel)
# kilometers: ~2800 (this is only an estimate - final number will be determined at the end of the trip)

  6. Holy cow! Thanks to BBB Mike I'm now aware that this trip has moved from speculative fiction to raw reality (chafing much?). It is really great that you are doing this, and together! We will all watch and cheer you on. (BTW Happy Belated Birthday Lee you wonderful woman!)

    Now, here's a limerick:

There once were two gals from Vancouver
Both determined to get up and move 'er.
    So they plunked their behinds
On their bikes for a grind
--hope they've got talcum to sooth 'er!
